Dancing from Tokyo to Irving

Irving, Texas. February 13, 2018

The Irving High School Toy Tigers hosted a group of dancers all the way from Tokyo last week. The Japanese drill team, Super Nova, was in Dallas for the National Dance Association (NDA) All-Star Nationals which welcomed competitive teams from across the globe. During their stay, dancers between the ages of 12- to 14-years-old met with the Toy Tigers and Irving High students for a morning of dance and comradery. The team utilized the school’s newly renovated dance studio and showcased their competition routine as students watched on. This unique opportunity and connection was a result of Toy Tigers director Tasha Franklin who met Super Nova’s coaches while judging the Miss Dance Drill Team Japan in 2014. Students from both countries united over their passion, showing just how dance and music are universal languages.
