Great Hearts Irving Charter School Breaks Ground on Permanent Home After Four Years in Rented Space

Irving, Texas. September 29, 2018

Great Hearts Irving, one of a network of Great Hearts Academies in Texas and Arizona enjoying a recent TEA A-rating, celebrates its future permanent home with a groundbreaking ceremony this afternoon, Friday, September 28.
WHAT: Great Hearts Irving Groundbreaking Ceremony
WHEN: Friday, September 28, 4 - 5pm
WHERE: Corner of Beltline Rd and World Cup Way - Irving, TX 75038
WHO: Faculty, students, parents and friends of Great Hearts Irving; open to the media
Great Hearts Irving has had to be creative in adapting its temporary home to its growing needs since opening four years ago. “We have managed our growth well, enjoying the comradery and community across the grade levels,” says Tami Perkins, Headmaster of the lower school. “However, as our number of high school students continues to grow, the building on Story Road is no longer sufficient for all of us. It’s time for this school to have a larger and permanent home.”
This Friday, Great Hearts Irving celebrates its groundbreaking for a new campus on Belt Line and Carbon Road. “We’re thrilled at this next step toward a flourishing future for our students and faculty as we prepare to move the upper school from our rented space into a new home of our own,” says upper school headmaster Philip Althage.
In the fall of 2019, the Upper School will welcome students in grades 7-12. The school is in the quiet phase of its capital campaign, gaining leadership gifts from Great Hearts parents, local foundations and corporations. When the lease for the current campus expires, the lower school will join the upper school on the new campus where Great Hearts Irving will then serve 1,400 students.
