Five Vacancies Available on School Board |
Irving, Texas. February 5, 2019 –
The Irving ISD Board of Trustees have called an election for May 4, and up for grabs are five seats on the board. Trustees are elected by voters in a single-member voting district in which they reside, and hold the office for three years, unless there is a resignation.
The vacancies are as follows:
- District 1, previously held by Dr. Steven Jones - resigned January 14, now open for a trustee who will serve the single remaining year in the three-year term.
- District 3, previously held by Larry Stipes - resigned in July and trustee was appointed to serve through May 2019 election, now open for a trustee who will serve the two remaining years in the three-year term.
- District 5, 6 and 7 - up for election as part of the three-year cycle
The Board of Trustees play an important role in keeping our local schools on track, always with the students’ best interests in mind. Interested in serving?
