Irving Water Utilities Warning Residents of COVID-19 Scams

Irving, Texas. July 13, 2020

Irving Water Utilities reminds customers to be aware of scams happening across the nation, including phone scams demanding payment for continued water service or offers of special water filters to provide protection from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection to treat Irving’s municipal drinking water are effective against the virus that causes COVID-19. City staff continue to monitor the water quality, repair broken water mains and maintain the distribution system to provide this critical resource to the community.

Customers who suspect they have been impacted by a scam, should call Irving Police at the non-emergency number (972) 273-1010 to report it. Additionally, please share this information with friends and colleagues who could potentially become victims of these scams.
