Irving Police Investigate In-Custody Death Following Arrest

Irving Police are investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive in his jail cell early Tuesday morning.

On Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 4:25 a.m., officers arrested 32-year-old Patrick Jones on an active theft warrant out of Dallas County. The following morning, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a detention officer conducting routine visual observations found Jones unresponsive in his cell. Detention officers immediately initiated life-saving measures.

The Irving Fire Department arrived and transported Jones to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. An autopsy will be performed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.

The Irving Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit are both conducting separate investigations, which is standard procedure in such incidents. Additionally, the Irving Police Department's Internal Affairs unit is conducting an internal review, and the Texas Attorney General’s Office has been notified.
