Delegation of Gubernatorial Appointees to Convene at Las Colinas

Alumni of Leadership North Texas, along with the North Texas Commission board of directors, will hold an appreciation reception for the North Texas delegation of gubernatorial appointees on Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd. The reception will include remarks from Teresa Spears, director of governmental appointments for Governor Rick Perry.

“We’re glad to welcome Teresa Spears from the Office of the Governor and the delegation of North Texas’ gubernatorial appointees to the City of Irving for the Leadership North Texas Appreciation Reception,” said Councilman Rick Stopfer. “We’re also very fortunate that Irving’s own City Manager, Tommy Gonzalez, is among the delegation of gubernatorial appointees who will be acknowledged at the reception.”

Gonzalez was selected by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the board for the State Office of Risk Management in 2011. The State Office of Risk Management provides leadership to State of Texas agencies so they can protect their employees, the public, and the state’s physical and financial assets by reducing and controlling risk in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Under Gonzalez’s leadership, Irving became the first city in Texas to incorporate Lean Six Sigma methodologies into municipal government operations. It is also the first city to be awarded the Texas Award for Performance Excellence (TAPE) from the Quality Texas Foundation.
