Tiffany Williams, 29, was sentenced to life in prison on March 28, 2025, after a Dallas County jury found her guilty of Injury to a Child with Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury in the death of her 5-year-old son, Zamaurian Kizziee.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kristen vanBolden, Summer Elmazi, and Michelle Shughart. DA Investigators, led by Laura Brakefield with support from multiple Crimes Against Children personnel, conducted the investigation. Victim Advocates Shanika Davis and Nathaly Mendez also assisted. The Dallas Police Department was the primary investigating agency.
On June 27, 2022, Dallas Police responded to a call at the 2800 block of Silkwood Street in South Dallas regarding suspected child abuse. Officers found Zamaurian unresponsive in a Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance parked in front of the residence. The boy had visible injuries to his head, face, and back. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams, his mother, was the only adult present at the time.
During a police interview, Williams gave four conflicting accounts of events and admitted to inflicting the child’s injuries but denied causing his death. At trial, she retracted all prior statements and presented a fifth version, claiming no responsibility for any of the injuries.
After hearing testimony, the jury returned a guilty verdict and sentenced Williams to life in prison.
