BY IRVING WEEKLY STAFFIrving, Texas. June 23, 2012 – The Irving Police Department and Irving Police Athletic League will once again present the Summer Hoops/Kicks youth programs for students. The programs will take place from July 9-August 3. The free programs are designed to provide a safe and secure option for kids who might otherwise have trouble staying busy during the summer. The Hoops program is for kids ages 10-14 and focuses on basketball while the Kicks Students will be able to practice their fundamental basketball and soccer skills, learn team work, and get to know their School Resource Officers outside of a school setting. All of the program instructors are Irving Police Officers. The Hoops program will take place daily from 9 a. m. to 1 p.m. at Travis Middle School, 1600 Finley Road. The Kicks program will take place daily from 8 a.m. to noon at Austin Middle School, 825 E. Union Bower Road.
