Nimitz High's Zaira Acosta Emerges as Rising Star in Track and Cross Country

IRVING, TX - Nimitz High School junior Zaira Acosta is quickly gaining recognition as one of the school’s most promising athletes. As a sophomore last year, she advanced to the area meet in track, competing in the challenging 1600-meter run. This year, she has continued to build on that success in cross country.

In October, Acosta advanced to the Cross Country Regional Meet, the UIL Region I XC Championships, held at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, a testament to her endurance and determination.

Looking ahead to the upcoming track season, Acosta remains focused on improving her performance. Coaches and teammates praise her strong work ethic and commitment to consistent training.

As Nimitz High prepares for another exciting season, all eyes will be on Acosta to see how far she can go.

Coach Cameron Swisher commented, “If her past accomplishments are any indication, the future looks bright for this standout runner.” Acosta’s journey reflects not only her athletic talent but also her dedication to growth and perseverance, making her a standout athlete to watch this season.
