DALLAS, Texas — A suspect was shot and killed by Dallas police late Wednesday night, March 11th, after a standoff in a vehicle outside Children’s Medical Center.
According to Dallas Police Chief Comeaux, officers and members of the department’s fugitive team were conducting an investigation into a wanted individual when they tracked the suspect to a vehicle in the parking lot of a facility located at 1934 Medical District Drive.
Police said the suspect barricaded himself inside the vehicle, prompting a response from SWAT officers.
Authorities attempted to get the suspect to exit the vehicle and deployed tear gas. Police said the man eventually came out armed with a firearm and pointed it at officers.
Officers then opened fire, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the suspect has not been released.
Investigators said they are also reviewing claims that the man had been working as an armed security guard. He was convicted felon.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
