DALLAS — A California man has been federally charged after authorities say he assaulted Transportation Security Administration officers and seriously injured a Dallas police officer during a disturbance at Dallas Love Field Airport.
According to a federal complaint filed this week, Idress Vinay Solomon, 33, of Oakland, California, is accused of forcibly assaulting a federal officer after an incident at the airport on March 10, 2026.
Investigators say Solomon was ticketed on a Southwest Airlines flight bound for Oakland International Airport when he approached the airport security checkpoint without identification.
A TSA officer directed Solomon to another screening lane so agents could attempt to verify his identity using TSA’s ConfirmID process. Authorities said the system was unable to confirm his identity.
According to the complaint, Solomon then became verbally disruptive and aggressive at the checkpoint.
After a TSA officer called for a supervisor due to the escalating behavior, prosecutors say Solomon punched the officer in the back of the neck.
Dallas police officers who were already present in the airport’s main lobby responded to assist TSA.
Authorities allege that Solomon then punched a Dallas police officer multiple times in the face, causing a serious orbital blowout fracture to the officer’s left eye. The officer required medical treatment from an ophthalmologist at Parkland Hospital.
Prosecutors say Solomon then punched a second TSA officer multiple times before additional Dallas police officers were able to subdue him.
Surveillance video from Dallas Love Field reportedly captured the assaults.
After being handcuffed, Solomon allegedly continued to resist officers. Authorities say he spit saliva onto a Dallas police officer’s arm while being placed into a patrol vehicle.
Investigators say Solomon continued yelling, pulling away from officers and refusing lawful commands even after being restrained.
Solomon has been charged with forcibly assaulting a federal officer and inflicting bodily injury. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
He remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
The investigation is being conducted by the Transportation Security Administration, the FBI and the Dallas Police Department, and the case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
