ARLINGTON, Texas — A Tarrant County jury has convicted 20-year-old Taymour Makarem of murder in connection with a 2023 shooting at a gas station in southwest Arlington. The jury sentenced Makarem to 75 years in prison.
The shooting occurred on July 16, 2023, at a QT gas station near Little Road. According to evidence presented during trial, Makarem and the 17-year-old victim became involved in an argument at the location.
During the confrontation, Makarem pulled a firearm from his waistband and shot the victim seven times at close range. The victim died as a result of the injuries.
After the shooting, Makarem fled the scene and hid the firearm. Arlington police officers located and apprehended him shortly afterward.
Authorities said Makarem initially denied being at the scene when questioned by officers, but investigators later uncovered evidence that contradicted his claims.
Arlington Police Department Detective Julia Hall led the investigation and uncovered a history of animosity between Makarem and the victim, stemming from an ongoing feud between the two.
The case was prosecuted by Tarrant County prosecutors Madeline Jones and Melinda Hogan.
