BY IRVING WEEKLY STAFF

Irving, Texas. February 27, 2013

Irving jumped out to an early lead on West Mesquite and captured a 12-0 victory on Tuesday at Irving High.
The game was decided quickly as Irving exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

An error, an error, and a two-run single by Tori Sidwell during the first inning and a two-run double by Melissa Hantelmann in the second inning fueled Irving's offense early.

Hantelmann racked up two RBIs on two hits for Irving.

Irving's McKensie Goodman kept West Mesquite off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out eight.

Irving increased its lead with two runs in the third. A sacrifice fly scored Brenda Chairez to start the scoring in the inning.

Irving piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Madison Goodman kicked things off with a single, bringing home Morgan Wang and Chairez. That was followed up by Ariana Garcia's single, bringing home Muna Yowell.
