BY IRVING WEEKLY STAFFIrving, Texas. March 4, 2013 – Irving and North Crowley traded the lead five times on Saturday, but Irving ended up on top with a 6-5 win in six innings over North Crowley.
Irving finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Irving went up for good on an RBI single by Ariana Garcia off R Wagne, plating Alexis Cruz. Madison Goodman racked up two RBIs on two hits for Irving. She singled in the third and fifth innings. Even though McKensie Goodman allowed five runs over six innings she still recorded the victory. She struck out six, walked one and surrendered five hits. The bottom of the second saw North Crowley take an early lead, 4-0. North Crowley got things going when R Pollard doubled. Then moved Pollard from second to third. North Crowley then tacked on more runs when King and Thurnold scored on a two-run error and Mitchell scored on an RBI single by T Poullard. After posting one run in the fifth, Irving again scored one in the sixth. In the fifth, Irving scored on an RBI single by Madison Goodman, scoring Katie O'Leary.
