Irving cruises past Nimitz, 11-5

Irving pounded Nimitz on Tuesday 11-5 at Nimitz in seven innings.

Irving scored four runs in the fourth on a steal of home by Daisy Martinez, an RBI single by Muna Yowell, and a two-run double by Madison Goodman.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with seven lead changes.

Irving pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. Irving scored on a two-run single by Brenda Chairez off Sydnee Peters, plating Martinez and Melissa Hantelmann.

Ariana Garcia led Irving's offensive threat, as she got on base three times in the game. She scored two runs and had one RBI. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.

McKensie Goodman recorded the win for Irving even though she allowed five runs over seven innings. McKensie Goodman struck out four, walked six and gave up seven hits.

Irving jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Irving got a spark in the form of a Garcia triple, before before Martinez singled, plating Garcia.

It didn't take long for Nimitz to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the first. Nimitz scored on an RBI single by Alli Jones, a groundout by Zoey Tropoloc, and a walk by Nataly Gamez.

Irving brought home two runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the sixth, Irving scored on an RBI single by McKensie Goodman, bringing home Garcia. Goodman scored on the same play due to an error.

Irving piled on two more runs in the top of the seventh. Madison Goodman started the inning with a double, plating Chairez. That was followed up by Garcia's single, bringing home Madison Goodman.
