Irving puts Heritage Crossing acreage on the market for redevelopment

The City of Irving has placed Heritage Crossing, a 20.64-acre tract of land along Delaware Creek, just north and south of Sixth Street on the market for redevelopment.

The City Council hopes private investors will submit design and development plans for the property that align with the city’s vision for it, said Kevin Kass, the city’s redevelopment and tax increment financing administrator. The city would like high-quality residential developments that fit into the historic 640-acre neighborhood bound by West Pioneer Drive, Britain Road, Shady Grove Road and MacArthur Boulevard.

“We know there are a number of investors interested in purchasing the properties to bring such development to Heritage Crossing,” Kass said, in a written statement.

Those investors bidding on the property will need to show the city they have the ability to deliver the proposed developments in a timely fashion and provide a performance assurance in the form of a bond or letter of credit. The bids are subject to approval of the City Council and the city retains the right for final approval of the development plans.
