Madison Goodman collected four hits, sparking Irving to a 6-3 victory in seven innings over Trinity on Tuesday at Irving High. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the second, fourth and sixth innings.
McKensie Goodman got the win for Irving thanks to eight strikeouts. McKensie Goodman allowed three earned runs, four hits and one walk over seven innings. She has 131 strikeouts.
Irving scored two runs in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the fifth, Irving scored on a two-run single by Brenda Chairez, plating Daisy Martinez and Katie O'Leary.
Three runs in the top of the sixth helped Trinity close its deficit to 4-3. A two-run double by Ryan Gibson and an RBI double by Shelbie Hughes gave Trinity life. Finally, McKensie Goodman got Addie Currey to ground out to end the threat.
