Girls Softball: Irving cruises past Macarthur, 12-5

Macarthur had a tough outing on Friday, as Irving dominated in a 12-5 win in seven innings at Macarthur.

The win secured a 21 win season and second place tie in District 6-5A for the Lady Tigers with Colleyville Heritage. A coin flip on Monday will decide playoff seeding. The Lady Tigers will be up against either Hebron or Flower Mound Marcus in bi-district.

Madison Goodman racked up three RBIs on three hits for Irving. She doubled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the seventh inning. Madison now has 45 RBIs for the year as well as 24 extra base hits.

Even though McKensie Goodman (21-13) allowed five runs over seven innings she still recorded the victory. She struck out seven, walked one and surrendered six hits.

The game's last lead went to Irving thanks to a third inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on an RBI double by Madison Goodman and a two-run single by Melissa Hantelmann.

Irving pushed across three runs in both the fourth inning and the seventh. In the fourth, Irving scored on a solo home run by Tori Sidwell.

Irving brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, Irving scored on a walk by Madison Goodman, scoring Morgan Wang.

After pushing across five runs in the bottom of the sixth, Macarthur faced just a 9-5 deficit. An error, an RBI single by Miaya Watkins, a groundout by Kerma Brooks, an RBI single by Jessica Martinez, and an RBI triple by Laksin Wolever triggered Macarthur's comeback. Julia Cueller grounded out to end the Macarthur threat.

Irving piled on three more runs in the top of the seventh. A triple by Madison Goodman ignited the offense, plating Muna Yowell. That was followed up by Daisy Martinez's double, bringing home Madison Goodman and Ariana Garcia.
