Girls Softball: Irving Lady Tigers Start Playoffs Vs Hebron

The Irving High softball team ended the 6-5A regular season at 10-4. They tied with Colleyville Heritage for second place in the district standings. School officials met and flipped for playoff seeding. The Lady Tigers coached by Joshua Luttrall, will meet Hebron High for a game on Friday night at 7:30 in a bi-district game. The game will be held at Hebron High School.

The Lady Tigers have a 21-10 record. No one in the program can remember the last time the team has had a season with 20 or more wins. Assistant coach Parham has been with the program for 15 years and says there have been no seasons with that many wins since he has helped coach the ladies.

The team is led by junior pitcher McKensie Goodman. McKensie has amassed 21 wins, over 169 inns. She has struck out 138 batters with some of the 2800 pitches she has thrown. Her sister, Madison Goodman is a sophomore and leads the DFW area 5A players with some incredible numbers. She has 119 at bats, 45 RBIs and 24 extra base hits, including 7 home runs. The entire team has produced great hitting all season. Seniors Brenda Chariez and Tori Sidwell have rung up homers as well as Mckensie Goodman with 4 home runs.

The Lady Tigers face a tough Hebron team that is led by Senior, Chelsea Herndon. She is a University of Florida signee and hits with power and pitches as well. The Lady Hawks finished their regular season with a huge win over Flower Mound Marcus to push them into second place in a lineup of teams that have had three different schools with state and national rankings throughout the season. Marcus and Lewisville fell on hard times toward the last two weeks of the season when they lost starting pitchers to injury.

The Lady Tigers are asking the Irving fans to come to the game and give them the support that will take them to the next round. Remember, Friday night at Hebron High School at 7:30.
