Rugby Tournament Coming to Las Colinas Polo Grounds

For those of us suffering withdrawal symptoms from the close of the NFL Season ... help is at hand!

The governing body for the sport of rugby in America, USA Rugby—a Full Sport Member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Rugby Board (IRB)—has  selected The Dallas Rugby Football Club to host the 2013 USA Rugby Men’s Division I, Division II, & Division III Senior Club Championships – Western Round of 16.

This best-of-the-west showdown will take place on the weekend of May 18-19, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Las Colinas Polo Grounds, 600 E. Royal Lane, Irving, Texas 75039.

The top 8 Division I, II and III Men's Club Teams from the Texas Rugby Union, Pacific Coast Rugby Union (Washington, Oregon and Northern California), the Southern California Rugby Union, and the Western Rugby Union (Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Nevada) will be represented.

That's 24 teams and some 840 players for two days of highly-competitive rugby at the beautiful Las Colinas Polo Grounds. The winning teams in each Division will advance to the Round of 4 and National Finals in Glendale, Colorado, to compete against their counterparts from East of the Mississippi.

Rugby is one of the fastest-growing high-school and collegiate sports in the United States. International, collegiate and seven-a-side rugby has been seen nationally on NBC.  The 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro will feature seven-a-side rugby.

Come see the game that started it all! Pick your team and root for their success throughout the weekend.

The Tournament is open to the public. On-site parking is $10/car, and the walk-in entry fee is $5/adult, and $3/ 14 and over. Under 14 walk-ins are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and VIP Packages are available. No coolers. Dogs on leashes allowed.
