Spring Break DWI No-Refusal Operation Results in 18 Arrests

Irving, Texas. March 25, 2014

The Irving Police Department participated in the statewide DWI No-Refusal Operation over the Spring Break holiday weekend. The department partnered with law enforcement agencies in the area, as well as TXDOT, to provide additional manpower whose primary focus was to locate and arrest impaired drivers. Two no-refusal operations were conducted as a result of the grant. During No-Refusal operations, those arrested for DWI are only offered a blood test. If the arrested person refuses to provide a sample, a warrant is obtained to authorize the blood draw.

A total of 18 DWI arrests were made over the weekend. Additionally, officers made 4 non-DWI related arrests and issued 60 citations. The Grand Prairie Police Department also utilized our operation, bringing DWI arrests to our city for blood draws.

The Irving Police Department will continue to participate in the statewide grant, which has shown continued success in Irving and across the state.
