About 3,000 people attended the Irving Music Factory groundbreaking party Saturday, Aug. 30.
Irving officials, including Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce Chairman Michael Gonzales, ushered in the new development, located south of the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, with a shovel ceremony.
“The Irving Music Factory enhances our live, work, play atmosphere for our residents and thriving business community,” said Beth Bowman, president and CEO of the Irving Chamber. “The development is an important next step for Irving that impacts our vision for driving economic development for Irving. The Chamber and our partners at the City of Irving have worked closely with developer the ARK Group and its architects to create a true entertainment district.”
The Irving Music Factory is a state-of-the-art development that will include an 8,000-seat indoor/outdoor concert hall, which will operate more than 250 events annually, a 50,000 square-foot plaza with a stage that will host fashion shows, farmer’s markets, food festivals and more. The entertainment district will also include Alamo Drafthouse, more than 20 restaurant options and a comedy club.
Irving Music Factory developers Rick and Noah Lazes of the ARK Group welcomed the crowd and thanked the citizens of Irving for supporting the project. Irving City Councilman Allan Meagher also expressed his thanks and support for the development.
Saturday’s groundbreaking party included live music, food trucks, craft beer and a feature-film showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark by Alamo Drafthouse.
The Irving Music Factory is expected to employ about 1,000 people, and open in early 2016.
