Irving High School has collaborated with UT Southwestern (UTSW) in a mentoring partnership. 30 Irving High School biomed science students met with five UTSW graduate students for the first time this week. The students from UTSW gave presentations about the scientific method, science fair paperwork and keeping good lab notebooks. After the presentations, each graduate student led a group of Irving HS students in a discussion about choosing a science fair topic.
On January 7, Irving High School will host its first Science Fair. The winners will move on to the Dallas Regional Science Fair in February where they will have the opportunity to win scholarship money and advance to the state science fair.
