Irving’s unemployment rate decreased to 4.5 percent in September 2014, the lowest rate since May 2008.
Irving’s 4.5 percent unemployment rate compares favorably to the Texas unemployment rate of 5.2 percent and the national average of 5.9 percent.
The success of the Irving Economic Development Partnership helped contribute to this low unemployment rate. The Partnership created 3,207 new jobs during the 2014 fiscal year and retained nearly 2,600 jobs .
