MacArthur Defeats Nimitz; Both make playoffs

In a District 9-6A matchup, MacArthur (7-3, 6-1) narrowly defeated Nimitz (5-5, 4-3) 30 to 23 at Irving Schools Stadium.

Macarthur started fast with Damien Victor catching a 14 yard touchdown pass from Kane Hardin on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead. Irving Nimitz then came back quickly to take the lead early in the second quarter with D'Angelo Allen's 86 yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Clark followed by Bryan Minero's 26 yard field goal. Irving MacArthur then proceeded to score 21 unanswered points to take a 30-9 lead into the fourth quarter.  Nimitz came back to score two late touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make it close but fell short as MacArthur's Chris Ward was able to run out the final 02:09 of the game.

Offensively, MacArthur was led by Quarterback Kane Hardin who threw for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receivers Damien Victor and Jordan Seals combined for 151 yards and all three of Hardin's touchdown passes. Running back Chris Ward finished with 90 yards with 23 coming on the last few plays of the game. The MacArthur Defense led by Nikola Malic forced Nimitz into 5 turnover on downs and limited them to 110 rushing yards.

Nimitz was led by quarterback Jimmy Clark who threw for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns and led the team in rushing by gaining 47 yards on 16 carries. D'Angelo Allen was the leading receiver on the night catching 11 passes for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns while Sam Berry was able to haul in 4 cathces for 97 yards and two late touchdowns.

MacArthur will begin their Division I playoff run next week, playing Mesquite Horn on Friday November 14th at 7:30 pm at Eagle Stadium in Desoto.  Horn finished first in District 10-6A with an impressive 9-1 overall record.  Horn features QB Chris Robison who has thrown for 2,773 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Nimitz will begin their Division II playoff run next week, playing Highland Park on Friday November 14th at 7:30 pm at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton. Highland Park finished second in District 10-6A with a 9-1 overall record.
