The Catholic Foundation Funds 23 Local Projects, Programs at Spring Grant Ceremony

More than $877,000 was awarded to 23 recipients at the 2015 Catholic Foundation Spring Grant Ceremony, held at St. Paul the Apostle Parish Center in Richardson, Texas. The donations will fund various requests including parking lot renovations, updated education technology and a school bus.

The Catholic Foundation distributes community grants twice a year to schools, parishes and nonprofit organizations in the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. The Foundation receives requests from organizations that demonstrate the ability to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the Catholic community, whether that is replacing a roof or updating classroom technology. The Board of Trustees’ Distribution Committee conducts site visits, reports and ultimately decides on the recipients and amounts of each grant.

Grants are made from the unrestricted Philanthropy Fund and restricted funds of The Catholic Foundation. Restricted funds are established at the Foundation by individuals or families, named or otherwise, to benefit their communities today and for future generations. While impacting lives through the organizations they wish to support, donors benefit from the knowledge and expertise of professional Foundation staff, the maximum in tax benefits, and the assurance that the earnings from their investments will be utilized to further help their local Catholic community through the Philanthropy Fund.

“It’s an honor to support these deserving recipients who keep our community thriving,” said Matt Kramer, President and CEO of The Catholic Foundation. “We are thankful for our generous donors who continue to trust the Foundation with their charitable goals, because they know that The Catholic Foundation is a good way to give and the impact is great. Our donors allow us to meet ever-changing needs in our Diocese.”

The grant recipients in Irving and their projects are as follows:

  • Cistercian Preparatory School – Purchase of 14-passenger bus
  • The Highlands School – Replace HVAC system (partial funding provided by the Roper Fund of The Catholic Foundation)
  • Holy Family of Nazareth Church – Update office technology

The Catholic Foundation is a trusted giving vehicle for the Catholic community. Chartered in 1955, the Foundation was founded by a group of dedicated Catholic laymen with a vision that extended far beyond the charitable needs of the moment. The Foundation has spent decades building a strong community, helping donors fulfill their charitable goals, and preserving the founders’ vision and philanthropic legacy. This independent, nonprofit organization regularly awards grants in excess of $5 million a year. Over the past 25 years, the Foundation has provided more $94 million in grants to religious, charitable and educational organizations, and today houses more than 370 charitable funds and trusts, and manages more than $200 million in assets.
