Tornado Touches Down in Irving

The US National Weather Service in Fort Worth reports that one of their damage survey teams confirms an EF-1 rating for a brief tornado that hit overnight in Irving.   The touchdown was in the vicinity of MacArthur and Walnut Hill.  The maximum winds were estimated to be around 110mph.

The tornado winds damaged several buildings including the MacArthur Center office building, the CVS pharmacy and part of the Villas at Beaver Creek apartments.  All buildings are less than a mile of each other.

All flash flood warnings in the WFAA viewing area have expired, but a flash flood watch for all of North Central Texas continues through Sunday evening. Because the soil is already saturated, any additional heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding. An additional 1 inch of precipitation is possible during the day. If you are driving and see a patch of high water, turn around... don't drown. - National Weather Service
