The Irving Police Department is currently investigating a one vehicle accident which occurred in area of the 2500 block of West Shady Grove at approximately 12:55 am. It appears that a black Volkswagen Jetta was traveling at a high rate of speed Eastbound on Shady Grove. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the curb and several stationary objects. Two people were traveling inside of the vehicle when it crashed. The driver was deceased at the scene. The other occupant was transported to Parkland Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the accident. The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The accident investigation is still ongoing by the Irving Police Department Traffic Section.
