Construction at High Schools to Impact Traffic Flow

Renovations to fine art facilities and athletics areas at Irving High School, MacArthur High School and Nimitz High School will begin over spring break and continue through the remainder of the school year. Please review below how traffic flow and parking will be impacted. Click here to view the construction phasing plans.

  • Irving High School - once in the parking lot at the front of the school’s main entrance, traffic will be re-routed slightly around the construction area.
  • MacArthur High School - the west parking lot (library entrance) will be used by the contractor. There will still be a drive-through/pick-up lane at the library entrance for buses.
  • Nimitz High School - a portion of the visitor/employee parking lot on the west side of the school will be utilized by the contractor. Traffic will be re-routed slightly around the construction area.

The renovations are planned construction projects identified through an in-depth facilities assessment. The modifications are designed to update and improve the fine arts facilities and athletics areas at each of the district’s three comprehensive high schools. The majority of the work is expected to be complete this summer.
