New School Hours for 2016-2017 Announced Irving ISD


Irving, Texas. July 18, 2016

In order to comply with a state law that calls for an instructional school year to be measured by minutes instead of days, Irving ISD Board of Trustees approved the following changes for the 2016-2017 school year:

  • Elementary school hours will be 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • The school day for middle school and high school students will not change.
    • Middle school hours will remain 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
    • Singley Academy hours will remain 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 a.m.
    • All other high school hours will remain 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
  • Half-day afternoon prekindergarten school hours will be 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.
  • Half-day deaf education prekindergarten school hours will be 7:45 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Full day PK/Head Start school hours will be 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
