Two Irving ISD Teams and Two Individuals Qualify for Regional Cross Country Meet

The MacArthur and Nimitz girls’ cross country teams and an individual boy from Irving and MacArthur will represent Irving ISD at the Regional Cross Country Meet, following an impressive showing at the District 7-6A meet held October 19 in Midlothian.

The MacArthur High School girls’ cross country team snagged four of the top 10 places en route to clinching the district title. Carmen Guerrero led the Lady Cardinals with a fourth-place finish, followed by Abigail Lewis at sixth, Sara Lindero at eighth and Jessica Jenkins at 10th. Other members of the regional-qualifying team are Alexandria Castillo, Leslie Centeno and Emilie Jimenez. The Nimitz High School girls’ cross country team finished third, led by a second-place finish by Jasmine Valencia. Other members of the regional-qualifying team are Perla Barrera, Melissa Ferrufino, Olivia Martinez, Yenifer Martinez, Heidi Reyes and Iris Reyna.

In the boys’ race, Irving’s Jose Gallegos finished fourth and MacArthur’s Lewis Logan came in at eighth place to secure bids to the regional meet, which will be held Saturday, October 29, in Lubbock.
