Irving High School senior Emanuel Ventura qualified for the UIL wrestling state meet after landing a fourth-place finish in the 138-pound class at regional competition in Allen. Nimitz High School junior Yenifer Martinez and senior Stacey Lopez advanced as alternates in the 110-pound and 215-pound classes. The state wrestling meet was held February 24 and 25 in Cypress-Fairbanks.
