Public Meeting June 2 Will Discuss Housing in Irving

Residents, business owners and nonprofit representatives from Irving and the surrounding area are invited to a public meeting 7 p.m. June 2 at Senter Park Recreation Center, 901 S. Senter St., to discuss fair housing issues in the region.

The City of Irving is working in partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington and 22 cities, counties and housing authorities to develop an assessment and analysis of fair housing issues in Irving and the North Texas region. Fair housing issues include:

  • Regional demographics
  • Segregation
  • Racially and ethnically concentrated areas of poverty
  • Access to opportunity
  • Disproportionate housing need
  • Publicly supported housing
  • Access for persons with disabilities
  • Fair housing enforcement and outreach capacity.

This planning is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and may impact the use of future agency funds in Irving. This meeting is intended to inform residents about the Assessment of Fair Housing and provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to participate in the assessment’s planning process.

Residents, business owners and nonprofit and church representatives are strongly encouraged to attend, as well as to participate in future planning meetings. The meeting is open to anyone who lives or works in Irving and surrounding communities. For those unable to attend the June 2 meeting, written comments can be submitted via email or postal mail to:
