Deeadra Brown Named Principal of MacArthur High School

Former MacArthur High School administrator Deeadra Brown will make her return to the school as principal. Brown served as associate and assistant principal at MacArthur for two years before taking on her current role as principal of Barbara Cardwell Career Preparatory Center in 2014.

“Ms. Brown has been very successful in increasing student performance in her role as principal of Barbara Cardwell Career Preparatory Center,” says Adam L. Grinage, Ed.D, associate superintendent for academic services. “Her passion, commitment to student success and strong work ethic make her an excellent choice to be the new principal of MacArthur High.  The administration looks forward to the future successes that are sure to come for the MacArthur community.”

Prior to her first stint at MacArthur, Brown served DeSoto ISD from 1996 to 2012. She worked as a teacher and coach at DeSoto High School before serving as the school’s dean of students and as an assistant principal at the DeSoto High School Freshman Campus. Brown also taught and coached at Travis Middle School in Amarillo.

“MacArthur High School has a strong tradition of success and school pride, and I am so excited to be returning to the MacArthur family,” says Brown. “I look forward to serving the teachers, students, parents and community again.”

Brown holds an associate’s degree from South Plains Junior College, a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University and a Master of Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Texas Association for Secondary School Principals and Delta Sigma Theta. She’s been nominated to Who’s Who Among High School Teachers and earned the Employee of the Year honor in 2009 for the DeSoto Freshman Campus.

Brown will begin serving in her new role July 1.
