James Clark Named Principal of Johnson Middle School

James Clark, who has served Irving ISD for seven years as an administrator and teacher, has been named principal of Johnson Middle School. He will begin transitioning into his new role July 1.

For the last three years, Clark has worked in administrative roles at Nimitz High School as assistant principal and administrative liaison. Prior to that, he was Dean of Students and a chemistry and physics teacher at Barbara Cardwell Career Preparatory Center.

“Mr. Clark is a student-focused and data-driven administrator who effectively builds positive relationships with students, teachers, parents and colleagues to improve student performance,” says Adam L. Grinage, Ed.D., associate superintendent for academic services. “The administration is confident that Mr. Clark will lead Johnson Middle School to greater levels of success for all.”

Clark earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2015 and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Baylor University in 2000. He holds a composite science certification as well as his principal certification.

“I am very excited to be joining the Lady Bird Johnson Middle School team,” says Clark. “I look forward to partnering with our parents, staff and community to help our students achieve academic success and prepare for life beyond Irving ISD.  My goal is for every student to dream big and achieve even bigger.”
