Lesley Kelley Named Principal of Cardwell Career Preparatory

Lesley Kelley, current assistant principal at Irving ISD’s Student Reassignment Center, has been named principal of Barbara Cardwell Career Preparatory Center.

With 18 years of experience as an educator in Irving ISD, Kelley came onboard in 1999 as a special education teacher at Austin Middle School. After seven years in the classroom, Kelley was appointed assistant principal of Crockett Middle School and later the Student Reassignment Center where she has served since 2015. As a campus administrator, she oversaw summer school, PEIMS data, professional development, campus behavior and testing.

“Ms. Kelley's strong advocacy for all students has been evident in every school in which she has worked,” says Adam L. Grinage, Ed.D., associate superintendent for academic services. “Her commitment to serving students, teachers, parents and the Irving community will enable the Cardwell team to continue on the path of success.”

Cardwell offers students the flexibility of a split schedule with the unique opportunity to choose a customized, career-focused academic program outside of a non-traditional high school setting. Kelley joins Cardwell in the momentum of another successful academic year as demonstrated by its seniors, who earned the highest dollar amount in scholarships and grants ever received by a graduating Cardwell class.

"I am honored to be selected as the new principal of Barbara Cardwell Career Preparatory Center,” states Kelley. “I am excited to serve the students, parents and faculty."

Kelley holds a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation from UT Southwestern Medical Center – Allied Health Services. Before entering public education, she served adults with disabilities via in-home and community-living services through Dallas Metrocare and was also involved with Goodwill Industries and Texas Rehabilitation Commission.

Kelley will transition into her new role July 1.
