MacArthur Closure and Traffic Pattern Change on Eastbound SH 183 Scheduled for June 16-19

Pending inclement weather or schedule changes, SouthGate Constructors, TxDOT’s contractor for the Midtown Express Project, advises motorists the traffic pattern on eastbound State Road (SH) 183 from Belt Line Road to Story Road will move to new pavement this weekend. In addition, crews will begin removing part of the SH 183 bridge over MacArthur Boulevard. Work begins 9 p.m., Friday, June 16 and will require various lane and ramp closures throughout the weekend to complete the work.

From 9 p.m., Friday, June 16 to 6 a.m., Monday, June 19, weather permitting:

  • Eastbound SH 183 from Belt Line Road to Story Road will be reduced to one lane.
  • The eastbound SH 183 on-ramp from northbound Belt Line Road will be closed. Motorists will be detoured to the southbound Belt Line Road on-ramp. View the detour map.
  • The eastbound SH 183 off-ramp to Story Road will be closed from 9 p.m., Friday, June 16 to 6 a.m., Saturday, June 17. Motorists will be detoured to exit at the MacArthur/O’Connor exit or may exit at Belt Line Road/SH 356 and follow the detour route posted. View the detour map.
  • North- and southbound MacArthur Boulevard will be closed at SH 183 for partial bridge removal. Northbound will be detoured to O’Connor Road; southbound will be detoured to Story Road. View the north- and southbound detour maps.

Message boards have been posted in the affected area to alert drivers of the weekend closures, detours and traffic change. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes when possible.
