City officials from Grand Prairie and Irving gathered on July 21 to celebrate the grand opening of a new fire training facility near State Highway 161 and Belt Line Road.
It is a partnership between the Grand Prairie and Irving fire departments that will allow both departments to share the space saving millions of tax payer dollars.
The new facility includes indoor and outdoor classrooms, office space, five-story multi-use fire training tower, fire simulators, along with search and rescue areas.
“Our firefighters deserve a safe and modernized facility to train on," said Grand Prairie Fire Chief Robert Fite. "In our field, training makes all of the difference when it comes to saving lives and protecting the property of our Grand Prairie citizens."
