Chicago-based Blackstone Group affiliate to relocate its headquarters to Las Colinas

Chicago-based GridLiance, an energy portfolio company of Blackstone Group, has decided to move its corporate headquarters to the Mandalay Towers in Las Colinas. The relocation follows a massive upgrade of the three-tower, 800,000-square-foot office complex.

GridLiance plans to move into 16,200 square feet on the top floor of Mandalay Tower 3 at 225 E. John Carpenter Frwy. in Irving's Las Colinas Urban Center. The company is occupying temporary space in Mandalay Tower 3 until it moves into its permanent home on the ninth floor in January. The space will accommodate 65 existing and new employees.

The company has already begun hiring employees for its new North Texas operations.

"Texas is in the heart of our current partnered footprint and an epicenter for energy innovation," GridLiance President and CEO Calvin Crowder said in a prepared statement. "We are excited to join the DFW community and to have Mandalay Tower 3 as our home base."

The 3-year-old independent electric transmission firm partners with municipalities, public power agencies and electric cooperatives. GridLiance operates in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Nevada, and is in negotiations for new partnerships in several other states.

Dan Paterson of Dallas-based Swearingen Realty Group LLC represented GridLiance in its real estate lease. Rodney Helm and Chris Taylor of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, Parmenter.

A multimillion-dollar makeover of Mandalay Towers has brought new amenities to the campus, including a park with walking trails and areas for tenants to gather. The improvements have also energized the multi-tenant office campus, said Josh Hedderich, senior vice president at Parmenter.
