Irving ISD Celebrates World Kindness Day

Irving ISD celebrated World Kindness Day on Monday with various displays of kindness. Several students from Farine Elementary School were put on the spot and asked to participate in a surprise kindness activity. Each pulled a challenge from a kindness jar, performing random acts in an instant. Barton Elementary School students also drew kindness challenges, and students and staff received “Kind Cards.” At Crockett Middle School, teachers read We Are All Wonders by R.J. Palacio to students during lunch. Students also received Wonder-themed pencils and bookmarks. de Zavala students used an old favorite game to take on the challenge of the day with BKIND BINGO. Students have the week to complete acts of kindness and be entered in a drawing to win a prize.

World Kindness day coincided with a district kindness campaign inspired by this fall’s Irving Reads book selection Wonder by R.J. Palacio, a moving story about a little boy whose difference causes his peers to learn compassion and acceptance.
