City Presents Spirited Youth Award to 3 Irving ISD Students

Three Irving ISD students were recognized by Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer and the city council as recipients of the Spirited Youth Award. This year’s recipients, which include (second from left) 2017 Singley Academy graduates Nilisha Gajera and Emely Guevara and MacArthur High School freshman Yasmin Fayz, were recognized at the December city council meeting. They are pictured with Gary Schepf, Irving Youth Council chair and career and technical education coordinator for Irving ISD; Donyan Rogers, youth council member; and Patty Danko, Lively Pointe Youth Center recreation supervisor. The honor recognizes any great student for their volunteerism, outstanding character or doing something great for the community or another person. Students are nominated by teachers, community leaders and youth pastors, and are selected by members of the Youth Council, which is an advisory council for the city.
