Share Tank Connects Irving Nonprofits with Local Business Leaders

BY IRVING WEEKLY STAFF

Irving, Texas. January 10, 2018

The City of Irving partnered with the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, the Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Irving Arts Center, the University of Dallas and the Irving Healthcare Foundation and Philanthropology LLC for this year’s Share Tank program. Share Tank is a philanthropic education program that matches businesses that want to improve the community, with nonprofits that administer services in Irving.

Share Tank provides a platform for Irving nonprofits to pitch project ideas benefiting the community to local business leaders who are interested in giving back.
Share Tank Pitch Day took place Nov. 16. Participating nonprofits had seven minutes to deliver the pitches for a chance to be awarded a grant to help support the organization’s efforts. Business leaders had an allotted amount of time to ask questions.

To participate in Share Tank, nonprofits were required to attend four half-day sessions, September through October, that taught skills to promote and grow an organization to better assist those in need. The sessions also prepared participants for the Share Tank pitches. The nonprofits support a variety of causes including homelessness, education, veteran’s assistance, health care, protective services and animal rescue.

During the inaugural program in 2016, 27 nonprofits participated in Pitch Day and a total of $23,500 in funding was awarded to 11 nonprofits. This year, leaders awarded $31,250 to 16 nonprofits on Dec. 13 during the awards celebration. For more information, visit IrvingShareTank.com or call (214) 217-8484.
