Congratulations to three Irving ISD students who will represent the district at the Dallas County Spelling Bee after winning the District Spelling Bee, held January 4. The Irving ISD Spelling Bee winner and runner-up from each cluster are:
MacArthur Cluster
Winner: Zainab Alsalami, fifth grader, Johnston Elementary School
Runner-Up: Rene Salazar, fourth grader, Thomas Haley Elementary School
Irving Cluster
Winner: Alissa Videla, fifth grader, Keyes Elementary School
Runner-Up: Diana Amaya Canales, sixth grader, Austin Middle School
Nimitz Cluster
Winner: Seher Mamun, eighth grader, Bowie Middle School
Runner-Up: Michelle Nguyen, eighth grader, Bowie Middle School
The Dallas County Spelling bee is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, at Studio Movie Grill (10110 Technology Blvd. W., Dallas, TX 75220). The winner from each cluster will compete in the Dallas County Spelling Bee. The alternate will compete if the winner is unable to participate.
