MacArthur Musicians Earn the Highest Honor

BY IRVING WEEKLY STAFF

Irving, Texas. January 26, 2018

Last week, two MacArthur High School seniors achieved the highest honor a student musician can receive. Baritone saxophonist Jacob Worrall (left) and tuba player Colin Elmore (right) were selected to the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 6A All-State Band. After surpassing the Region 20 audition, both advanced and excelled in the Area D-level of competition against the best students from four regions. Now the two are joining the prestigious All-State Band, an honor only the top 2.5 percent of musicians generally reach. Colin and Jacob will travel to San Antonio this February for three days of rehearsals and a performance directed by nationally-recognized conductors during the annual TMEA Clinic and Convention.
