Irving Police Chief Spivey Recognizes PAL Boxing Team

Irving, Texas. January 24, 2018

On January 18th, Chief Spivey recognized several of the Irving Police Athletic League (PAL) boxing team at the City Council meeting.

Jaime Martinez was the 2016 USA National Champion in the Junior Division (168lbs) and in 2017 he moved into the Youth Division (178lbs) and came in 3rd place at the USA National Boxing Championships.

Tristan Kalkreuth was the 2016 USA National Champion in the Junior Division (138lbs) and in 2017 he moved into the Youth Division (152lbs) and is now the 2017 USA National Boxing Champion in the 152lb Youth Division. He will represent the USA Boxing team in the international competition next year.

In January, the PAL Boxing Team had four boxers competing in the 51st Regional Silver Gloves. Zae Farr competed in the 80lb division and finished 1st; Calvin Farr competed in the 90lb division and finished 2nd; Fernando Estrada competed in the 85lb division and finished 1st; Jonathan Sosa competed in the 100lb division and finished 1st.

The PAL Boxing Team will be competing again next week in the 82nd Dallas Annual Golden Gloves Tournament.

Congrats to all of these young men for their hard work, and to all the employees, volunteers and parents who dedicate so much time to ensure the success of the youth of Irving.
