Heritage Aquatic Center Renovations Scheduled for April

Irving, Texas. February 13, 2018

The Heritage Aquatic Center will close for six weeks for pool renovations beginning in late spring.

The aquatic center, which opened in early 2003, will receive updates to its 120,000-gallon pool, including resurfacing. A new climate control unit will be installed to provide cooling and dehumidification of the air, as well as heat for the pools and spa.

The Parks and Recreation Department is working with the City of Irving Building and Equipment Services Department. The $600,000 project includes resurfacing and replacing tile in the pool, as well as resurfacing the large spa and current channel.

Residents may use the North Lake Natatorium, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd., during the renovation. Fliers identifying the facility’s hours and address will be on display at Heritage Senior Center — located next to the Heritage Aquatic Center — in the interim.

North Lake Natatorium reopened in November after a $7 million remodeling project that involved the City of Irving, Irving Independent School District and North Lake College. Among the updates were a new roof to replace the facility’s pressurized air roof, a climate control unit, changing rooms, and electrical and lighting upgrades. For more information, visit

The city is eager to update and improve the Heritage Aquatic Center because of its popularity among residents and its high traffic flow. The renovated aquatic center is slated to open by the start of the summer swim season.
