Recent MacArthur High School graduates, Samira Syed and Wereba Hamde, won gold at the national FCCLA competition in Atlanta.
FFCLA is Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12.
Syed and Hamde won the hospitality, tourism and recreation – occupational category with their concept – Angel’s Garden, a Mediterranean, farm-to-table style restaurant.
In addition, Irving High School won two medals – a silver on the occupational level and a bronze on the senior level – for applied math in culinary management.
