State-Bound Business Professionals of America


Irving, Texas. February 5, 2019

Nine Irving ISD students are bound for state in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition after a strong showing at the regional leadership conference on January 19. In the school’s first time to compete, Singley Academy students garnered four gold medals and seven state qualifiers. MacArthur and Nimitz High School will be represented by one student each. The BPA State Leadership Conference will be March 6-9 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The qualifiers, their events and their placing at regionals are:


  • Nhi Vo – Fundamental Word Processing Skills, 1st
  • Steve Lomeli – Database Applications, 1st
  • Alexa de la Fuente – Legal Office Procedures, 1st
  • Michael Friend – PC Servicing and Troubleshooting, 1st
  • Emily Alvarado – Intermediate Word Processing, 2nd
  • Ashley Diaz – Medical Office Procedures, 2nd
  • Faith Cachay – Business Law & Ethics, 2nd


  • Nidhushalini Janarthanan – Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications, 4th Place 


  • Heidy Stewart – Banking and Finance, 3rd
