Five Vacancies Available on School Board


Irving, Texas. February 5, 2019

The Irving ISD Board of Trustees have called an election for May 4, and up for grabs are five seats on the board. Trustees are elected by voters in a single-member voting district in which they reside, and hold the office for three years, unless there is a resignation.

The vacancies are as follows:

  • District 1, previously held by Dr. Steven Jones - resigned January 14, now open for a trustee who will serve the single remaining year in the three-year term.
  • District 3, previously held by Larry Stipes - resigned in July and trustee was appointed to serve through May 2019 election, now open for a trustee who will serve the two remaining years in the three-year term.
  • District 5, 6 and 7 - up for election as part of the three-year cycle
