4 DECA Teams Headed to Nationals!


Irving, Texas. February 27, 2019

Four teams of MacArthur students are headed to national DECA competition after winning at state this weekend. The following students will compete April 27-30 in Orlando, Florida:

  • Start-up Business Plan – seniors Daniel Soto-Alfaro and Kylen Love
  • Financial Literacy Promotion Plan – sophomores Akram Qadri and Christopher Reitmeyer
  • Community Service Project – sophomores Tori A. and Sarah Thakur
  • Entrepreneurship Promotion Plan – seniors Ryan Jo, Carson Miller and Nahin Hayat 

In addition, three teams from MacArthur and two teams from Nimitz were named finalists. Both the MacArthur and Irving chapters were recognized as Century Chapters (more than 100 members) and for increasing membership by more than 50 from last year.

  • Innovation Plan – seniors Dominique Hall and Javier Romero, MacArthur
  • Franchise Business Plan – senior Abbi Hillman and juniors Marie Temomo, and Cyntia Lopez Lara, MacArthur
  • Learn and Earn – seniors Jackie Pacheco and Jacqueline Martinez, MacArthur
  • Innovation Plan – junior Nahomy Benitez, Nimitz
  • Operations Research for Walgreens – freshman Julio Marin, Nimitz
